Sir Christopher Wren Hotel & Spa
A luxury 17th-century hotel and spa in Windsor, with breakfast, an optional dinner and extras
With its pretty shopping lanes unravelling from the castle at the top of the hill, Windsor is one of Britain's loveliest towns. Situated beside the River Thames just a short distance from Eton and Ascot, this chic neighbourhood is the perfect destination for a short break.
The four-star Sir Christopher Wren Hotel & Spa is located right on the riverside, just a short walk from the high street, the area's famous green parks and the castle itself. Dating back to the 17th century, this Grade II listed building exudes English heritage and houses sympathetically restored interiors. Many of the original features have been retained, creating a stately backdrop for tasteful boutique furnishings.
In addition, the hotel boasts three floors of gym space, plus a dry spa area with a sauna and relaxation room.

The hotel's Thames View restaurant offers a peaceful riverside setting and a classic European fine dining menu. Many of the dishes are locally inspired (Eton Mess is a menu staple) and draw on seasonal, farm-sourced ingredients wherever possible. To ensure a most ambient atmosphere, the restaurant has a no-phones policy, so no texting at the table.
Wren's Club & Spa is set over three floors, with most of the space dedicated to fitness. There's also a dry spa area equipped with a sauna and relaxation room, plus a Jacuzzi spa bath outside. The spa offers a Decléor face and body treatment menu, alongside a number of bespoke therapies.
Sir Christopher Wren Hotel & Spa enjoys a prime location by the river, just a stone's throw from Windsor and Eton Riverside station. A stroll up the hill will take you into the beautiful town centre, revealing the castle on the left and an upscale parade of shops and restaurants on the right. Windsor Great Park and Alexandra Park are not far from here and there are a number of championship golf courses in the area (this region is famed for its excellent golf clubs).
